We responded to a challenge to write a song about physical pain. That's a subject William knew everything about.

This is autobiographical, and I think the lyrics speak for themselves. As for my part, it's never been my job to entertain. Rather, it's to take whatever he writes and try to present it in a way that highlights the emotion Willy put in the lyrics. So if it's difficult to listen to... good.

This is deliberately lo-fi. There's vinyl crackle throughout, and the song ends with the needle at the end of the record. If you've never heard an actual record player, that's what it sounds like when the song's over. It's a metaphor.
