about

SpinTunes 3's final round featured a photo of a derelict Cadillac, but it very nearly wasn't that. The original photo was a panoramic seascape, with a variety of people and boats scattered about (you can see it here: tinyurl.com/3mckrrk). This song is a shadow for the SpinTunes round that wasn't. If you'd like to contribute to making the song better, I'm willing to replace ANY track on it with a submission that either improves on what I've already got or enhances the song in some way (A solo in the instrumental break, for example)

lyrics

My heart is heavy
My lids are closed
I've been lost on the roads I chose
Way too many times

I've talked to myself
All evening, no reply
Questions come quicker than answers lately
And the morning doesn't come at all

So you're gonna be leaving
You wanna be free
To start a new life
Where the land meets the sea
Where the tide hasn't time
To dampen your dreams
Where your heart rarely captures
Any glimpses of me

On the waterfront
Sand and sail as far as the eye can see
There on the waterfront
Where the feeling of freedom is too good to believe
Where there's wind and there's waves and plenty of space
A routine and a dream to get lost in for days
On the waterfront

[instrumental break]

My heart is heavy
My eyes are closed
And I've cut myself on this thorny rose
One too many times

I talked to myself
All evening, no reply
Questions come quicker than answers lately
And the morning doesn't come at all

So you tell me you're leaving
You wanna be free
To start a new life where the land meets the sea
Where the tide hasn't time to dampen your dreams
Where your heart rarely captures any glimpses of me

On the waterfront
Sand and sail as far as the eye can see
There on the waterfront
Where that feeling of freedom is too good to believe
Where there's wind and there's waves and plenty of space
A routine and a dream to get lost in for days
So you'll never be leaving
You'll always be free
To start a new life where the land meets the sea
Where the tide hasn't time to dampen your dreams
Where you barely remember what we used to be
On the waterfront

about

Dr. Lindyke Union

"Dr. Lindyke" is the nom de plume of William Hoover and Dave Leigh. William writes lyrics; Dave writes music. Though we write a lot, neither of us are really performers, and we LOVE it when people cover our songs. Please do.
