Dave writes: This was written in response to a challenge from Song Fu 2... "write a song about the Moon". William was on vacation at Edisto Island when I wrote it, so a house by the sea became the setting. The card game is in his honor, too.

On July 4th I can watch the city's fireworks from my back yard. That's the sort of feeling I'm going for here. Sitting down, having a drink, and watching the sky explode.

I'm dedicating this one to my brother Robert, for his birthday.

Update, July 20th, 2010... I'm re-dedicating the song to Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin in celebration of the 41st anniversary of their walk in the Sea of Tranquility. Let's hope that the actual colonization of the Moon is a little more tranquil than depicted here.
